NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The US leading index Dow Jones Industrial rose to a record high in early trading on Wednesday. It advanced 0.45 percent to 33,828 points and was driven by the price gains in Goldman Sachs shares after a record profit by the investment bank. The day before, the Dow was still behind other major US stock market barometers with slight losses.
The Nasdaq 100, which rose to another record high on Tuesday, fell 0.12 percent to 13,970 points. The market-wide S&P 500 was up 0.11 percent on 4,146 meters, but remained just below the record high of the previous day.
Goldman Sachs convinced investors with a record quarterly profit of 6.7 billion US dollars. With a price increase of 2.8 percent, the shares sat at the top of the Dow. The courses of JPMorgan and Wells Fargo fell against it after the quarterly reports of the two financial houses. / Bek / he
