New York declares emergency over hazardous smog from Canadian forest fires

Flights in New York have been delayed as smog has reduced visibility. A number of sporting events have also been postponed because of the thick smog.

New York Mayor Eric Adams’ office issued an air quality health alert, warning people with respiratory problems, such as asthma, to reduce strenuous outdoor activity.
