“The Consul in NYC, Jorge Islas, has instructions to investigate this fact and report immediately if there are affected compatriots. I’ll keep you posted,” Ebrard wrote.

A group of firefighters responded to the call of witnesses who had seen smoke at the 36th Street subway stop in the Sunset Park neighborhood and found several suspicious objects that were initially described as “unexploded devices.”

In another message on Twitter, Consul Islas added that the shooting occurred in Brooklyn, near Sunset Park, where there is a significant number of Mexican residents.

“A shooting was recorded in Brooklyn, near Sunset Park, where there is a significant number of Mexican residents. We are finding out if there were compatriots in this unfortunate incident,” said Islas.
