New York City to Get Its First Soccer Stadium: HOK and Turner Construction to Run the Project

New York will have its first soccer stadium. The complex, which will have capacity for 25,000 spectators, it will be run by HOK and Turner Construction Company.

The latter is part of the ACS Group, chaired by the Spanish Florentino Pérez. Turner will be in charge of designing and building the project, commissioned by the New York City Football Club.

This will be the first football stadium in New York

The stadium will be in Willets Point, in Queens, which has become a reference point for sports in the American city. There are also the stadium of the New York Mets and the National Tennis Centerwhere the United States Open is played.

The project is valued at US$780 million. And it is expected that New York City Football Club will play there beginning in the 2027 MLS season (the professional soccer league of the United States and Canada).

But it won’t just be the stadium. With the construction of this, a project will also be developed that includes 2,500 housing units, a new public school with 650 places, a hotel and open spaces.

“The club is confident that HOK and Turner will successfully fulfill the club’s vision of a world-class stadium that will become a resource for the community,” the club said of the first soccer stadium in New York.
