New York Area Could Get Snow Soon – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK — Even as the tri-state area seeks to recover from a tornado in New Jersey and a winter mix of precipitation that ruined travel for many, we’re already looking at our next weather system — and this one may bring snow.

Early models hint at a decent snowfall Monday night through early Tuesday, especially north of New York City and in northern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and parts of Connecticut. Regardless of whether it works, the coming system signals a fresh and shaky start to March, with another big system in the works to kick off that month.

We’re looking at cool temperatures for Friday, which are down to around 45 from around 48 on Thursday, and even colder on Saturday, when highs are expected to barely break the freezing mark.

Winds will gust to near 30 mph on Friday, so it will quickly feel like winter again as the wind chill drops to the 20s and 30s.

We’re looking at another split weekend weather-wise, with Saturday expected to feature freezing temperatures in the 40s Celsius and possibly some gusts in the afternoon.

By Sunday, we’re back to above-average temperatures. We are tracking another storm system that could hit in a week or so, but at this point, it is too difficult to predict how it might affect the tri-state area.
