New wolves spotted on camera images in the Southwest Veluwe | Inland

A female wolf has lived on the South West Veluwe since 2019. A man joined her. The she-wolf became pregnant, but was killed in the spring of 2021. The male was shot dead in the autumn by an as yet unknown perpetrator. “If it was the shooter’s intention to get the area wolf-free, we would have to disappoint him or her. We already thought that other wolves would soon appear in this place, because it is an ideal environment,” said the ranger.

The area below Ede where the wolves live is a stumbling block for red deer and wild boars. This wildlife has become wedged between built-up areas and the A12 motorway, since De Hoge Veluwe National Park has placed wolf-proof fences on the ecoduct. Natuurmonumenten advocates different and safe connections for wildlife in the Veluwe.
