New Splinter Cell trademark registered by Ubisoft

A Splinter Cell-trademark has been updated by Ubisoft. The trademark was created on December 6 and may mean that the company is working on a new project for the franchise. The adjustment is for a previously registered trademark from May 2017. The trademark changes are minor, for example, ‘interactive multi-player video games’ has been replaced by ‘providing an online computer game’.

In October, there were already rumors that Ubisoft would be working on a new Splinter Cell game. Ubisoft may have given the green light for development for a new title in the franchise at the time. If these rumors are true, this will be the first game in the franchise since Splinter Cell Blacklist from 2013.

According to VGC the new title would have gone into production to win back fans frustrated by recent attempts to revive the franchise. There is a slim chance that the new game will be announced next year.

More Splinter Cell projects

Last year, Ubisoft already announced a Splinter Cell project, many fans were disappointed because this is a VR-only game, in collaboration with Meta. In addition, Netflix also comes with a Splinter Cell-serie. The first season will contain eight episodes of approximately 30 minutes each. There will be at least 16 episodes in total, which means there may be a season 2 as well.
