The recently convicted Harvey Weinstein has been charged with an additional crime in Los Angeles, where another case is pending against him.
Weinstein is suspected of accidentally touching the intimate parts of a woman in a Beverly Hills hotel in May 2010, the Los Angeles prosecutor announced on Friday.
“Our case is getting stronger,” prosecutor Jackie Lacey said in a statement to, among others Deadline. “In collecting evidence, we contacted other potential victims. If we come across new evidence of unreported crimes – as is the case now – we will look for additional charges.”
Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year sentence in New York for rape and sexual assault. It is not clear when the film producer, who tested positive for the corona virus in late March but shows no complaints, will be transferred to Los Angeles.
This case also concerns rape and sexual abuse. If the judge decides he is guilty of this, Weinstein can be sentenced to 28 years in prison.
