The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania on Saturday evening prevented votes cast by mail from being declared invalid. President Donald Trump’s team insisted on this when it turned out that many of those votes had gone to the Democrats. Trump hoped this would prevent Biden’s victory.

However, the state’s Supreme Court unanimously ruled that it had been decided months ago that postal voting is legal and that there is now no reason to revoke it. The state’s attorney general, Democrat Josh Shapiro, called the court’s decision “another victory for democracy.”

The lawsuit was brought by Republican Representative Mike Kelly, who argued that Pennsylvania’s electoral law is unconstitutional. He wanted either to have the 2.5 million postal votes – most for Democrats – destroyed or to have the electors designated directly.

New blow to Trump
The ruling is yet another blow to Trump’s efforts to reverse the November 3 election results. Also last Friday, Trump’s team suffered defeat in Pennsylvania court. Then it demanded a hearing in which attorney Rudy Giuliani could have presented arguments about alleged dishonesty at the polls. But the judges also rejected that.

Democrat Joe Biden defeated President Trump in Pennsylvania by more than 80,000 votes, a state Trump had won in 2016.
