Audio recordings with screams, sound of beatings and insults to 2-year-old children from the 23rd nursery in the capital’s Lozenets district were spread on social networks and caused a number of checks and dismissals of staff.
These are threats from the educators, mental and physical abuse of the children in the nursery, and the audio recordings were made through devices placed by parents.
The scandalous recordings are from the summer, but now they have become public. “Bella, do you want me to lock you upstairs, shut up now! Don’t look at me! Sit on the bench.” There is a sound of a blow. “Come on, look!” “Don’t look at me like that at all, sopolanko!”, “You won’t eat” and “Sit down right away” – these are a small part of what was recorded.
“He started crying a lot, he didn’t want us to take him. He started biting his hands and getting nervous tics,” said Gergana Shkutova, a mother of a child from the nursery.
Alexandra Yankulova recognizes her child in the recording. It was hit by an uncollected toy.
“I heard the recording yesterday. How I reacted – I was shocked, absolutely frankly, because for me this is an example, apart from the obvious disgust towards small children – this is an example of betrayed trust. I hear and absolutely distinguish the voice of the lady who was responsible for my child’s group, I hear his name, I hear how they get used to him and without any good reason, I hear a blow, that was enough for me “, she says.
Director Tsenka Boykova claims to have learned about the violent recordings now.
“I recognized the voices, I recognized who the people are, and accordingly, as of today, I have adopted methods by which I want to prevent these things and to move on a better path forward,” Boykova explained to Nova TV.
The result – two fired employees and a nurse removed from office for a year. An inspection followed by the Sofia Municipality.
“I am outraged purely as a parent, I am also outraged as an administrator and I will take action to have this material investigated by the competent authorities – the prosecutor’s office,” said Monica Chause of the Sofia Municipality.
