With Knuspr, a new provider wants to expand the market for online supermarkets around Frankfurt. The company advertises that it attaches particular importance to regional products.
Frankfurt – Shopping online is no longer an exception. through the Corona-Pandemic* shopping from your home laptop or smartphone is also in Hessen* only gotten more popular. A new offer that is changing in the Rhine-Main region is called “Supermarket & farm shop at a click”. Frankfurt*, Offenbach and Darmstadt wants to establish. The start-up Knuspr from Munich promises: at least 30 percent of the full range comes from regional suppliers and producers. Of the around 9,000 items that Knuspr says it offers, at least around 2,700 items are said to have been produced in the Rhine-Main region.

The company has settled in Bischofsheim (district of Groß-Gerau) in southern Hesse. “From the Bischofsheim location, Knuspr supplies the cities of Frankfurt, Mainz, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt and all municipalities in between within three hours of the order being placed,” says a press release. When it comes to regionality, the main focus is on products from the areas of fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, dairy products and baked goods.

Knuspr is part of Rohlik, one of the leading online grocery delivery services in Europe, founded in 2014 by Tomáš Čupr in the Czech Republic. The company is active in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria and Germany and will launch in 2022 under the Sezamo brand in Romania, Italy and Spain.

With the online offer, Knsupr wants to counteract the current structure of the German food retail trade, which is systematically pushing small regional businesses out of the market. According to its own statements, Knuspr has so far entered into partnerships with three regional companies. These include the butcher Gref Völsing from Frankfurt, the butcher Lumb from Ober-Olm (Mainz-Bingen district), the Eichwaldhof near Darmstadt and Edelpilze Kroll from Offenbach.

According to the company, since the start in Munich six months ago, there have now been 40,000 customers and 3,000 orders a day. Knuspr is now hoping for similar figures for Frankfurt, Offenbach, Darmstadt and the entire Rhine-Main region. Knuspr guarantees the delivery of the ordered goods under three hours after receipt of the order and within a confirmed delivery window of 60 minutes, as stated in a statement.
