Princess Elisabeth (20) returns to the army for a while. She will participate in a military camp this summer. In preparation for this, she took classes in Leopoldsburg last weekend.

Elisabeth, who has been studying in England since this academic year, is no longer in the army, is she? And suddenly new photos of candidate officer Van België in khaki uniform pop up? The explanation is simple: Elisabeth wants to keep the ties with Defense.
The daughter of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde dropped out last summer after her first year at the Royal Military School. This shortened training was the intention from the start. She wanted to get acquainted with the Belgian army, of which she will become commander-in-chief as soon as she becomes queen.
Although she is now studying History and Politics at Lincoln College, Oxford, Elisabeth will join the summer camp at the end of the second year in July. Each academic year ends with such a camp. Students who in the meantime follow other academic studies – for example at another university or college – may still participate.
Elisabeth made that decision voluntarily. She wants to keep in touch with her army comrades from last academic year. Elisabeth was in a promotion with 110 student officers, which she will see again in July. (dhs)
