New Opel Insignia, production starts in Russelsheim – Auto World

The first example of the new one Opel Insignia rolled off the production lines of the German carmaker’s headquarters in Russelsheim. An important first step in the future of the Opel flagship, in this specific case a Sports Tourer version in Satin Steel Gray. Soon the production of the new Insignia will be joined new models, including the new Astra and a model for the DS brand which from 2021 will share the modern EMP2 platform suitable for electrification of the PSA group.

Opel, off to orders for the new Insignia

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller celebrated the production of the first Insignia, explaining: “We were looking forward to the new Opel Insignia. Thanks to the new Opel Insignia and the future models we will be bringing to Russelsheim, the factory can look forward to a good future as a location for manufacturing ultra-modern vehicles, both with efficient combustion engines and electrified ”. Three versions in which the new flagship will be offered at launch: Grand Sport, Sports Tourer and GSi. Prices range from 34,500 euros for the Grand Sport sedan to 35,500 euros for the Sports Tourer version. “The success of the transformation towards the electric mobility it will be decisive for the future. We want to continue supporting the company with all our strength “, said Udo Bausch, mayor of Russelsheim am Main.
