New NHL Night Games Report: Panarin’s Hat Trick, McDavid’s Milestone, and Top Performances

NEW YORK. In the night games of the NHL, Šimon Nemec was 2:5 in the loss of New Jersey on the ice of Boston.

The Slovak defender did not score, recorded one negative point, a hit, a shot, played 21 minutes and 3 seconds and was the Devils’ most used player.

Boston was held up by the team’s biggest star, David Pastrňák, who scored two goals and had an assist. His teammate Kevin Shattenkirk also had a double, scoring his 100th pro-league goal.

“I liked the reaction of the substitution. We felt we played a good game and according to our expectations. The players fought hard and were physical, which helped us succeed,” noted Boston coach Jim Montgomery.

Juraj Slafkovský started after a hard hit to the head in the last match with Carolina for Montreal, Florida. He didn’t score against the Panthers, gave up one hit and had a minus point, played 17:50 minutes, the Canadiens lost 1:4.

In the duel, he stood up for teammate Justin Barron, who was pushed by Ryan Lomberg and he fell into his own goal. Slafkovský clearly showed Lomberg that he did not like this intervention.

Martin Fehérváry did not participate in Washington’s game against Nashville due to an injury from the previous game, the Caps lost to the Preds 2-3 after separate raids.

“Predators” goalkeeper Yaroslav Askarov scored the first victory in his NHL career. The 21-year-old Russian neutralized 26 opponent shots.

He was surpassed only by Beck Malenstyn and Alexander Ovečkin, who scored the seventh goal of the season, he has a total of 829 goals and is 65 goals short of the top scorer in the history of the pro league, Wayne Gretzky.

Erik Černák started for Tampa in a 1:5 loss against the New York Rangers, but did not score. But he was active on the ice, scored four hits, four shots on goal and one negative point, played over 20 minutes.

Panarin among the best in the NHL

With the win, the Rangers became the first team to reach 50 points this season. They needed 35 games to do it.

Vincent Trocheck was the most productive player with a goal and three assists.

Artemi Panarin, who ranks third in league productivity behind Kučerov and MacKinnon, contributed significantly to the win with three goals. He scored his sixth career hat trick on the night and was named the first star.

“I feel great. There’s no better way to end the year like this. We won and that’s important,” Panarin said.

Trocheck also praised the form of the Russian winger: “He seems to be getting better and taking more and more steps forward, which is crazy. He’s an excellent hockey player, one of the best in the competition, and he’s fun to play with.”

Aho is in the best form

Carolina forward Sebastian Aho scored three Canadian points in a 3-2 win over Toronto. He scored one goal himself and assisted on two.

The Finn is playing in great form, he scored a total of eleven points in the last three games. He became the fourth player in club history to play three consecutive games in which he scored at least three points.

“It’s definitely my best stretch of the game in the NHL. Maybe I did it sometime in junior. It’s nice to produce a lot of points, but the main thing is that we won three times in a series,” said the 26-year-old center of Carolina’s elite attack.

McDavid passed Šťastny

Star Connor McDavid played his 600th game in the NHL for Edmonton. He had a big part in the 3:2 win after separate raids over Los Angeles. He recorded a goal, an assist and a successful solo run.

During his 600 games in the pro league, he scored 897 points for 316 goals and 581 assists.

Only Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Bobby Orr had more assists after 600 games than the Edmonton captain. McDavid beat Petr Šťastný by one assist.

“It was a tough start, there’s no doubt about that, but we felt that our game was picking up. From the moment the coach changed, we were able to play some good games,” McDavid expressed his satisfaction.
