The city of Newark announced a new initiative Monday to help residents find jobs.
It is a mobile unit, which is named Newark Workforce on Wheels o Fuerza Laboral sobre Ruedas, which travels through different neighborhoods in the city every day, like an office, so that people can receive free assistance and find employment opportunities, said Mayor Ras Baraka.
The mayor noted that the project seeks to make it easier for residents to find information and help them if they do not have access to travel to other parts of the city to apply for jobs when they are available.
Among the services available on the bus, residents will find:
- Job search
- Vocational and occupational training
- Adult education program
- Summer job opportunities for young people, among others.
