In August of last year, developers from the Hangar 13 studio officially confirmed the development of a new part of the Mafia series. According to earlier, still unconfirmed information, we would have a fourth part of the series take in Sicily at the turn of the 19th and 20th centurieswhere we would follow the rise of Don Salieri.
Speculation about the future of the series has stirred up over time newly opened position in the Hangar 13 studio, which is currently seeking an experienced executive percentage. The person in this position should be according to the description on the network LinkedIn responsible for the development of the key series in this development unit, which has branches in Brighton, Novato, Brno and Prague. The main goal is to launch a new big title, release subsequent additional content and plan the future of the brand.
Although the position description doesn’t mention which series it is, it is most likely just about the Mafia, which the studio reportedly focused on after canceling other projects. In addition to the new Mafia, Hangar 13 should also work on a new part of the tennis series Top Spin, but we can characterize it more as a side project. However, at the moment it is not entirely clear whether the aforementioned position refers to the fourth Mafia currently in development, which is supposed to be in the pre-production stage.
Some foreign magazines toy with the idea that it would it could be the beginning of preparations for the fifth part, which would come out not long after the fourth due to this. In any case, the indications so far indicate that the studio Hangar 13 and the publisher 2K Games itself have bigger plans with the Mafia series, which could bring several new games in the foreseeable future.
