New leader of the PSD / Guarda council wants to mobilize the party to continue the political project started in 2013

The new leader of the Municipality of Guarda’s PSD, Sérgio Costa, said that he will seek to mobilize the party to continue the municipal political project initiated in 2013, when the PSD won, for the first time, the presidency of the Municipality of Guarda. The elections for the leadership of the Social Democrats in the district of the district capital took place yesterday, with Sérgio Costa defeating Júlio Santos by a margin of 94 votes. Of the 431 militants registered in the municipality of Guarda, 389 voted, with the winning candidate obtaining 239 votes and the other competitor a total of 145. Five null votes were also counted.

Sérgio Costa, former vice-president of the Municipality of Guarda, passed in March to the position of councilor without responsibilities in the largest municipality in the district of Guarda, after President Carlos Chaves Monteiro (PSD) removed his political confidence.

After the results of the election were known, the elected president of the PSD council of Guarda declared that he obtained a “massive” vote that gives him “a lot of encouragement” to continue working. «We will work with everyone and for everyone. That is the spirit that we always defend. We will do everything to add militants, sympathizers, elected mayors, citizens, always in favor of the development of the Guard, ”he said.

The PSD will now be “highly mobilized so that the political project that was started in 2013, will never be called into question, taken to the end and may last for years to come”, he promised. «This list will work with everyone and for everyone. […] That will be our job from now on, ”concluded the new leader of the social-democratic council of Guarda.
