Of the Covid-19 cases detected last day, the most detected were in Riga, where 25 new cases were registered. The capital is followed by Daugavpils with 18 cases and Kuldiga region with 11 new cases.

Meanwhile, 11 patients are currently registered in Daugavpils region, while the number of those infected in the region the day before did not exceed the limit of five cases.

Three new cases of Covid-19 were detected in Talsi municipality, while one case was detected in Cēsis municipality, Dagda municipality, Jelgava, Olaine municipality, Ozolnieki municipality and Preiļi municipality.

Thus, currently 231 active cases have been registered in Riga, 99 in Daugavpils, 76 in Kuldiga region, and 35 cases in Olaine region.

Cases of Covid-19 have been registered again in Aizpute, Burtnieks and Saldus counties, however, the number of infected cases in all counties does not exceed the limit of five cases. Thus, active cases are currently registered in a total of 47 municipalities.

The most infected are in the age group from ten to 19, where 14 people became ill. 11 cases were registered in age groups up to nine years, from 20 to 29 years and from 30 to 39 years. Nine patients were registered in the age groups from 50 to 59 and from 60 to 69, while eight cases were registered in the age group from 40 to 49 years, and three patients were over the age of 70 years.

It has already been reported that last day, performing a total of 3914 Covid-19 tests, 77 new cases of Covid-19 infection were detected in Latvia, according to SPKC data.

According to the SPKC, one person who had been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 died last day. The patient was in the age group of 90 to 95 years. As a result, a total of 38 patients with confirmed cases of Covid-19 died.

The information available to the SPKC shows that 24 patients have been infected from known sources of infection, but five abroad – in Germany, Russia, Ukraine and Lithuania. For the remaining 48 individuals, the conditions of infection are still being clarified and the epidemiological investigation is ongoing.

In Latvia, infection with Covid-19 has so far been laboratory confirmed in 1945 individuals.

So far, 328,631 Covid-19 examinations have been performed in Latvia. Of all cases in which laboratory infection with Covid-19 was confirmed, 1,307 had recovered and 38 had died.

Data from the National Health Service show that two patients with Covid-19 have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours. A total of 22 patients are treated in hospitals, 19 of whom have a moderate course of disease and three have a severe course of the disease. So far, 231 patients have been discharged from the hospital, including both recovered and dead.

Yuri Perevoshchikov, Director of the Infectious Diseases Risk Analysis and Prevention Department of the SPKC, previously explained that this indicator is considered important in the European Union, because when it exceeds 3%, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.
