New impetus for the widening of the A Pasaxe bridge in A Coruña | Radio Coruña

The project to expand the bridge of the Passage that links the city of A Coruña with part of its metropolitan area has received a new boost today from the central government. He State official newsletter (BOE) considers the Environmental Impact Study completed.

The calculations of the mayor of Oleiros, Angel Garcia Seoane, the main defender of the work, place the start of the works in the year 2022. In the first place, the works of Sol y Mar should be undertaken, according to the Oleirense councilor.

These days the term of submission of offers for the works of Sol y Mar and the execution time of the works is situated in a year and a half. Then the expansion works could begin from the A Pasaxe bridge. A very necessary work would be undertaken for an infrastructure that supports the passage of 90,000 vehicles every day.

“After last summer the works of Sol y Mar will begin. This work will take year and peak. It is necessary to get the idea that it can take year and peak to take out the tender of the bridge of the Passage. I imagine that they can present the offers and after year and peak take out the tender “, calculates Ángel García Seoane.

Where will it be built?

The new infrastructure is intended to be built next to the current bridge, doubling its space. It will be the same width, 25 meters and 225 meters long. Once the works are completed, the A Pasaxe bridge will have four lanes in each direction with enough space for bike lanes, pedestrians, shoulders and access walkways to the promenades in the area.

The BOE indicates different actions to guarantee the balance of fauna and flora in the area. The resulting project will include revegetation of all margins and the installation of an acoustic barrier to lessen the impact on the fourth level that will be built in the A Pasaxe roundabout.
