New Horizons updates to be released • Nintendo Connect

The following information comes from a CNET interview, are already over four weeks old, but fit in with the latest events around Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Nintendo released last week the first major content update and added a load of new content to the game, such as Gerds driving nursery or Reiner’s treasure cutter.

In the interview, Aya told Kyogoku, the director of Animal Crossing: New Horizonsthat the game is playing in real time and that we can enjoy the seasonal events when they take place in the real world. The goal is to ensure that players will still find new surprises in the game in two or three years. Corresponding future updates should ensure this.

Animal Crossing is a game where you’re able to enjoy seasonal changes throughout the year, and it syncs with real time and through that you are able to basically sync your real life with the game. We want to make sure that in two years or three years down the road, players will still continue to find new surprises in the game. So we hope to create an update that you can do that with.

The release version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons should already include everything that the team wanted to have with them at the start, but whoever was Animal Crossing: New Leaf may have missed some functions or buildings. Kyogoku reiterates that “new surprises and elements” should continue to be added to the game to keep it interesting for the next few years.

I think the release version game has all the specs that we wanted to include in there. However, I mentioned earlier, because we want to make sure that users will be able to find new surprises and new gain elements as they play for years down the road, we wanted to make sure that we add something for that.

It’s a shame that when the game was released on March 20, 2020, it felt like it had less content than was available in its direct predecessor. On the other hand, residents no longer move into our beloved flower beds or on paths and with the island designer we have some new options available to adapt the island to our needs. Would you have been happy about more content or is it okay for you if new functions are gradually being added via updates?
