New Fair Mechanism for Reserving Employees from Mobilization in Ukraine – Latest Updates

During martial law in Ukraine, all male citizens aged 18-60 are subject to mobilization. But there are employees of critical companies and government bodies who may be excluded from mobilization.

In early February, President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine plans to develop a new fair mechanism for reserving employees of enterprises subject to military conscription.

As RBC-Ukraine reported, at first they discussed the idea of providing armor to hired employees and individual entrepreneurs whose monthly tax payment is about 6500 hryvnia (income tax or single tax for individual entrepreneurs). If we talk about hired workers, then we were talking about Ukrainians, earning more than 35,000 hryvnia per month.

However, upon further discussion of this initiative, they first decided to exclude individual entrepreneurs from this mechanism, and soon decided to abandon the condition of a relatively high amount of taxes for employees. It will be left only as an additional criterion.

For days, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, Dmitry Natalukha, said that at the end of March a bill on economic reservation from mobilization may appear in parliament, providing for the payment of an increased military tax, as well as the possibility of reservation for individual entrepreneurs. According to Natalukha, the deputies who are preparing the bill do not have criteria for minimum wages and positions.
