Rumors have been around for a long time about a new Fable part, the role-playing series that has been taking a break for almost nine years. Now a new part is probably under development at Playground Games, which was previously responsible for the Forza Horizon series. So far, however, this has not been confirmed.
And just recently, fans believed they had found another clue to a new series part – probably Fable 4. Because on Twitter a mysterious account was spotted, which still has a placeholder title in the name, but the handle “@fable.
Reference to Fable 4? Microsoft says that
When asked what that meant, Aaron Greenberg from Microsoft replied the following:
“I know everyone is hungry for news, but I’m afraid I have to disappoint your hopes. These accounts have been inactive for years, and it’s normal practice to secure social handles for our IPs.”
So the hopes of the fans were initially dampened. Or not? Because a sentence in Greenberg’s statement is strange.
“These accounts have been inactive for years […]”
A look at the account shows clearly: The account is not that old yet, was only created in March 2020. So there can be no question of “inactive for years”.
What can that mean?
With his statement Greenberg tries to distract from a possible new fable under all circumstances in order to make a possible announcement (at the July event) even more surprising. Because Fable is again haunted by the rumors as a topic on the net, this attempt should no longer be successful.
A new fable would be anything but bad news, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new part of the main series for years. A possible announcement for the Xbox Series X would be a big deal accordingly.
