“Arcinfo” today tells the ordeal experienced by a young audience caught in a crowd movement, Saturday evening in Neuchâtel, at the entrance to the Shock Box.
“Compressed, some suffocated, others in shock, shouted or cried,” reports the Neuchâtel media. The Mainstream evening was aimed at young people from the age of 16, with an admission price limited to 10 francs, and then to 15 francs after midnight.
The crowd movement came from behind. Under pressure, the railing fasteners failed. Assessment: bruises especially, but also severe pain in the legs and thorax, even fractures.
Two lines
Did “serious” age control at entry cause successive movements? Possible. The 16-18 year olds wore a specific bracelet which deprived them of strong alcohol. Two separate lines were separated by Vauban barriers, a separation that gave way between 11:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
“There were people above and others below,” a witness told Arinfo. At least one girl is passed out. Some believed they were dying. Three people were hospitalized by ambulance.
The Shock Box and the City of Neuchâtel have expressed their excitement via press release. Owner of the building, the City promises “urgent security measures”. No complaints were made, but one Member tabled a written question.
