Dutch national team has announced the final squad for European Cup 2020. Virgil van Dijk not included by the Dutch national team coach, Frank de Boer.
De Boer, announced the names of 26 players he will bring to the European Cup on Wednesday (26/5/2021) evening WIB. Matthijs de Light, Frankie De Jong, Georginio Wijnaldum, to Donny van de Beek remain De Oranje’s mainstay.
However, Van Dijk had to be left behind because he was still smothering ligament injuries. This Liverpool pillar has previously confirmed that it will not compete in the most prestigious event between European countries. He said he wanted to focus on restoring his condition.
Apart from Van Dijk, De Boer did not bring two other players who were active in the Premier League, namely Steven Bergwijn (Tottenham Hotspur) and Kenny Tete (Fulham). The performances of the two players failed to attract the former Inter Milan coach.
Meanwhile, the names of two senior Ajax Amsterdam players, Marten (38 years) and Daley Blind (31 years), were included by De Boer for Euro 2020. The summons of both were somewhat surprising.
Stekelenburg only appeared regularly in the Dutch League after January after Ajax’s main goalkeeper, Andre Onana, tripped over a doping case. For Blind, De Boer dared to take risks because the former MU player is currently struggling with an ankle injury.
The Netherlands on European Cup 2020 joined in Group C with Ukraine, Austria and North Mekedonia. They will start their work in this event on June 13 by facing Ukraine.
