Netgear introduces cheaper WiFi 6-mesh router in Orbi series – Computer – News

Netgear has released a second WiFi 6-mesh router in the Orbi series. It concerns the RBK752. This router offers slightly less good performance than the current RBK852. The new router will have a suggested retail price of $ 450. Converted and with VAT that is 485 euros.

The new Orbi AX4200 is bundled with a router and satellite, which are designated as RBK752. The appearance shows many similarities with the more expensive RBK852 set, which Netgear released in September, although the new RBK752 is slightly less high and wide. The new Wi-Fi system has a reach of around 465 square meters, according to Netgear.

The new router set has an 802.11ax radio, which supports Wi-Fi 6. The Orbi RBK752 offers a maximum bandwidth of 600Mbit / s at 2.4GHz and 1200Mbit / s at 5GHz, both with 2×2 configuration, while the RBK852 4×4 channels. The 4×4 backhaul for the connection between the router and the satellite remains the same in the RBK752.

Thanks to WiFi 6, the router supports, among other things him-despite, which allows him to communicate with several devices at the same time. Wifi 6 also supports ofdma, which allows the router to split a Wi-Fi channel into several smaller signals, which should increase efficiency on more than one connection.

The new Orbi router also offers a gigabit WAN port and three gigabit Ethernet connections. The satellite has two more. The RBK852 features a WAN port with support for 2.5-gigabit Ethernet. The router and satellite both use a four-core CPU at 1.4GHz. The router has 1GB RAM and 512MB nand flash memory.

At the time of writing, the RBK752 is not yet on Netgear’s Dutch website. The European recommended prices are therefore not yet known. Netgear does announce that the router will cost $ 450 in the US, which, converted and with VAT, amounts to about 485 euros. For that money, users get a router and a satellite. A set with a router and two satellites will also be available, for $ 600, which equates to 646 euros including VAT.
