There is a saying that everything old can be new again. And probably there should be another that suggests that the recent can also be a novelty if you present it elsewhere.
This type of dynamics is already a constant in technology platforms, since any innovation can serve as an inspiration to the competition. In fact, when one format is popular enough, other applications just start copying.
This is what happened with Snapchat stories, which are now on Instagram, Facebook and even Twitter. This is also what happens with short TikTok-style videos (which in turn are not so innovative considering that there were platforms like Vine before).
In what summons us on this occasion, Netflix was inspired by this type of videos with its new function, called “Quick laughs”(Fast Laughs), the one that delivers short clips of comedy series and stand-up shows available on the platform.
The following video introduces how the feature works in the Netflix mobile app. Broadly speaking, your goal is to allow users to quickly find something new to see.
The function allows to add each program to the waiting list, share it with other users or even react with a “LOL”, which obviously has algorithmic purposes that are beneficial for Netflix.
