Have you ever seen an ice cream stand? Probably yes. And have you ever seen an ice cream stand whose attendant leaves it to its own devices, open and disappears for tens of minutes? Neither do we.
But that’s exactly what happened to our reader who wanted to buy his children something sweet on Thursday, August 24. The entire event took place in the afternoon on Novodvorská street in Prague 4.
The editors of PrahaIN.cz know the readers. He called us after ten minutes of waiting.
“We went for ice cream, there’s the stall and the trdelnik. Nothing happened for about ten, maybe fifteen minutes. It was open, everything was in its place, but no one was inside. Every time a customer came, waited a while, then left,” described our reader.
We asked him to stay put. He promised he would. At the same time, he went to the booth opposite to ask the attendant if anything had happened. “No, no, she probably went to buy something,” responded the opposite kiosk.

In another ten minutes, the girl returned to the original booth.
It was really open all the time and fifty people could walk past it. There were about ten disappointed customers. There was no sign indicating that the attendant was gone.
The man then asked the woman where she was, that she left the whole thing wide open, so to speak. However, instead of a rational answer or an apology, he received rude insults. The girl is said to have shouted that he was a “beast” and a “deviant”.
“I just asked her how she could just walk away and let it go, but she wouldn’t talk to her, she just screamed that I was a moron. Much worse, you can imagine. So I took a picture of her, but she kept turning so she wouldn’t be seen,” he concluded.
PrahaIN.cz tried to contact the operators to find out if they know about the “self-service” on Novodvorská. It was not possible until the publication of the article.
