Need for mobilization: “What a citizen should do, he must do. I myself fall under the lure of the first stage ”- Biathlon

Former Vice President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Alexey Nuzhdov shared his opinion on partial mobilization in the country.

– Did you have to deal with the booking of athletes in the context of partial mobilization?

– The federation has no such function. We can do something in a consultative way, the topic has been discussed. Everyone has the same approach, including athletes and coaches: to act strictly according to the law. A summons has arrived: you must appear.

We can write a letter: an active athlete of such a level plays for such and such a team. Not a petition, but an information document. But we do not have the right to remove someone from the law, it is simply incorrect.

– Your personal position: are they well-trained people who know how to shoot excellently, are they subject to mobilization?

– My position coincides with the Constitution and all legislative acts: what a citizen must do, he must do. I myself fall under the draft of the first stage, since the reserve colonel has not reached the age of 55, I have combat experience and a high-demand military unit. If they find it necessary to call, they will call.

– Shouldn’t athletes who satisfy people who have victories in difficult times have preferences?

– Athletes, journalists, actors, officials – we are all first and foremost citizens of the country, – said Nuzhdov.

“The spirit wasn’t enough to kill a man – I’m still happy with that.” A man who has been through special forces and counterintelligence goes to the biathlon bosses
