Nearly Half of Patients Unaware of Underlying Health Conditions, Putting them at Risk

Almost half of the patients do not even know about the presence of pathology.

In 25 percent of cases, ischemic stroke or cerebral infarction develops due to atrial fibrillation. This was announced at a press conference by the head of the neurological department of the emergency hospital Julia Mukhamadieva.

According to her, about 1.5 thousand stroke survivors enter the institution during the year. Only 16.6% of patients are aware of the existence of arrhythmia and receive treatment, and 38.9% are aware of the pathology, but do not take drugs. In addition, 44.5% are not aware of their health problems at all.

Mukhamadieva added that 30% of strokes are due to high cholesterol levels. It also needs to be treated. The risk, according to the specialist, increases with age after 40 years, which is why it is necessary to undergo medical examination.
