Near Le Havre, at the Dumesnil farm, local products available at all hours

One hundred and fifty-one boxes where you can find dairy products, including the famous cheeses from Ferme Dumesnil in Saint-Vincent-Cramesnil, canned food and ready-made meals, as well as cookies and some homemade cakes. And, wishing to promote the know-how of her colleagues, the distributor that Corinne Dumesnil has set up since Saturday, December 5 allows you to buy bread from Fournil de Gommerville, jams from Ferme Follet in Saint-Vaast-Dieppedalle, some vegetables from Sébastien Argentain from Octeville-sur-Mer. But still more charcuterie from Ferme du Réel (Bosc-le-Hard), Snails from Brotonne (Yébleron), fish from the Pisciculture de la Source (Saint-Aubin-sur-Scie) … The choice is already impressive.

Flexibility

« I wanted to offer a point of sale where consumers can find a multitude of local products, always for direct sale., explains Corinne Dumesnil. It is a solution that offers more flexibility for customers who could not come during our store’s hours. So far, I haven’t tried to diversify our range, but to offer the essentials. It is a sample of all the wealth of our local producers. » The operator planned for a time to install the distributor in Saint-Romain-de-Colbosc, but the regular replenishment would have involved an overload of work and additional logistical constraints.

To buy food from the distributor, nothing could be simpler. All you have to do is select the products on the screen and pay by credit card (exclusively). The door of the box opens and the customer helps himself.

Useful even for Parisians!

Matthieu, 38, a client of Ferme Dumesnil for two to three years, came as a neighbor from Saint-Vigor-d’Ymonville with his little boy. « It is in tune with the times : this distributor provides access to local, regional products, outside the opening hours of the farm store. And then the machine is well located, there is room to park. »

François, a dashing 50-year-old cyclist from Montivilliers, is enthusiastic and full of ideas. « Those who enjoy cycling holidays are looking for this kind of service. After a long outing, we stop and try to pitch our tent and eat, but it is often late. However, many Parisians will take the green route “La Seine à Vélo”, as far as Normandy. I will report this dispenser very handy for followers. »

Pay online

Corinne Dumesnil listens to suggestions and says she is ready to install an electrical outlet to recharge cell phones or electric batteries for bicycles. Maybe even a microwave.

In addition to a hydroalcoholic gel terminal, a table and chairs are already installed so that customers can put their bags down or eat on the go. « I realize that it also allows customers to avoid the store crowd when they want to shop. », she notes.

To remain consistent with her desire to promote local production, Corinne Dumesnil called on the northern company of vending machines entirely made in France, Le Casier Français.

Starting next year, it will be possible to pay online for your selection of products and collect them from the distributor using a code, or even place an order at the store and collect your food later at the distributor in an assigned locker.

Satisfied with having been able to make this project a reality, Corinne Dumesnil recalls that she could not have completed it without the help of European funds (ERDF, European Regional Development Fund) managed by the Normandy Region. « A grant that supported 40 % of the amount excluding taxes of this distributor. »

The vending machine is located next to Dumesnil Farm. 221, route du Castillon in Saint-Vincent-Cramesnil. Tel. 02 35 20 75 61.
