NBA playoffs: Los Angeles Lakers fail in round one to Phoenix Suns

The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Last season’s champions lost to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday (local time) at home 100: 113 and thus lost the series 2: 4. The Lakers are only the sixth team in the history of the best basketball league in the world to be eliminated as defending champions in the first round. This has never happened to superstar LeBron James with his team before.

Already in the first half, the Suns pulled far behind and in the meantime led with 29 points. The outstanding man on the court was Devin Booker, the shooting guard got 47 points. At the Lakers, the ailing star player Anthony Davis only lasted six minutes without a point before his groin injury forced him into the role of a spectator. The Suns meet in the semifinals of the Western Conference on the Denver Nuggets, who had previously won 126: 115 against the Portland Trail Blazers and won the series 4: 2.

Schröder probably before the Lakers stay

National basketball player Dennis Schröder had 20 points, three assists and three rebounds for the Lakers. It could have been his last game for the club: The 27-year-old’s contract ends, so far there has been no agreement on a further collaboration. After leaving, however, Schröder indicated that he would remain. “I want to be here and win a championship,” said the German international.

According to reports, he had rejected a contract offer from the Lakers for four years with a total volume of 84 million US dollars. “At the end of the day, it’s not about the money,” Schröder now explained. First of all, the point guard could go to the national team, which will be playing for the Olympic Games at a tournament in Split, Croatia from June 29th to July 4th: “If I’m not injured and I feel good, I’ll be there Said Schröder.
