About thirty NBA players are given appointment until next Sunday in Fuengirola in a joint program between this league and the Junta de Andalucía to disseminate training methods and consolidate the Andalusian community as the headquarters of American professional basketball outside the US.

This program is being developed for the second consecutive year under the name of NBPA Andalucía Week and will involve, among others, Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics), Steven Adams (Memphis Grizzlies), Donovan Mitchell y Darius Garland (Cleveland Cavaliers) y Aaron Gordon (Denver Nuggets).

The Spanish will also be Usman Garuba (Oklahoma City Thunder), Santi aldama(Memphis Grizzlies) and Izan Almansa, recent U-19 World Champion and who, predictably, will be chosen in the first round of the 2024 Draft.

The General Secretary for Sport of the Junta de Andalucía, José María Arrabal, expressed himself “convinced that the community is the ideal place to be a preferred destination for NBA players”, that “they will be comfortable” and “they will feel at home and will help promote basketball in our land”.

In the presentation were the mayoress of Fuengirola, Ana Mula; Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, executive director of the NBPA; Matteo Zuretti, head of international relations and marketing at the NBPA; former players Berni Rodríguez and José Manuel Calderón, directors of the program; and the General Director of Sports Systems and Values, María de Nova.
