NBA players briefed on Orlando ‘campus’ safety for recovery

The NBA has according to Adrian Wojnarowski shared with his players a safety plan to help enforce the protocols it announced last week at best within the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, where the teams will be installed for the resumption of the 2019-20 season. According to ESPN, there will be no law enforcement present directly on campus, but only outside it to ensure its security.

Security perimeters will be defined, technological security devices will be put in place, as well as a “fusion center” dedicated to intelligence. In addition, all sites and hotels will be closed to all non-accredited persons (presence of checkpoints with accreditation control and roaming security inside and outside the perimeter of each location used).

Any movement off campus will be limited to pre-approved emergencies or to a movement planned in accordance with NBA security. For all off-campus events held for recreational purposes, league security will be complemented by former Special Operations Forces members to provide an “evolving security bubble”. Activities on campus will be managed by the security of each team.

The Department of Homeland Security, Walt Disney World Security and the NBA’s Global Security Operations Center will monitor social media networks. The Orange and Osceola County Sheriffs offices will provide a presence at the team hotels as well as the three venues that will be used by the league at Disney’s Wid World of Sports Complex. Finally, the Florida Highway Patrol will escort team buses for matches and back to their hotels.

It is recalled that the (22) teams are expected in Orlando from July 7, for a resumption scheduled for the 30.
