First sensation in these NBA 2020 play-offs. In the Floridian “bubble”, Milwaukee, yet the league’s best record, was beaten for its entry into the running by Orlando (122-110). On the land of Magic, at Walt Disney World Resort, the locals (8th in the Eastern Conference) quickly took the lead in this meeting and were up to 10 points ahead at the end of the first quarter. If the gap was subsequently increased to + 18 (51-33) in favor of teammates of Evan Fournier (author of 9 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists), the Bucks limited the damage by returning to ten units at the break (62-52). Unfortunately for Giannis Antetokounmpo’s teammates (31 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists), if the franchise of Wisconsin has gradually returned to a point (69-68) in this first game of the series of play-offs, Orlando has again widened the gap at the end of the 3rd quarter, with a + 13 before the last act (92-79).
A “Greek Freak” Too Lonely
A nice gap that the Magic managed to keep during the last 12 minutes, even going up to +16 at times, to create the first surprise in this start of the NBA play-offs. A success notably enabled by the superb performance of Nikola Vucevic. Lieutenants of the “Greek Freak”, Eric Bledsoe (15 points and 5 assists) and Khris Middleton (14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists) did not weigh enough in this meeting. Conversely, Terrence Ross, Markel Fultz and Gary Clark were invaluable for the Magic, with 48 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists between them. With this initial setback, it is a first warning free of charge for Milwaukee who will have to recover from August 20 during the second game of this series, counting for the 1st round of the 2020 play-offs.
