Before being free, Nazaruddin had been on leave before being released since Sunday, June 14, 2020. He then went on leave with supervision and guidance from the Bandung Correctional Center until he was released on August 13.
Nazaruddin was sentenced to two cases, namely the corruption case of the Hambalang Athletic House project in 2012 and money laundering in 2016. He was sentenced to 6 years in prison for money laundering and 7 years for corruption. Wisma Athlete. The total sentence is 13 years in prison and served since 2012.
Nazaruddin should have been in prison until 2024, but he received a remission of 45 months and 120 days. The Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights said that the remission was given because Nazaruddin had the status justice collaborator.
However, the KPK said it had never given this status to Nazaruddin. However, the KPK acknowledged that Nazaruddin helped uncover the corruption case.
