The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology issues for today, December 15, a warning of the second degree – orange code, for 14 areas in the country. It will apply to the regions of Blagoevgrad, Pernik, Kyustendil, Sofia region, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan, Kardjali, Montana, Vratsa, Lovech, Gabrovo and Veliko Tarnovo and Burgas.
In the remaining 14 areas, a warning of the first degree – yellow code – has been announced.
There will be significant amounts of rain today.
Even before noon, the rain will turn to snow in the mountainous regions and in some places in North-Eastern Bulgaria, and by the end of the day, wet snow will fall in many places in the rest of the country. A snow cover will begin to form in the evening.
There will be conditions for blizzards and winds along the mountain passes and in North-Eastern Bulgaria. Cold air will move in and temperatures will drop. In the morning they will be between 5° and 8°, and by 2 pm in most of the country they will be between 1° and 4°. In Sofia – about 2°.
Atmospheric pressure will increase and will be significantly higher than the average for the month.
It will be cloudy and rainy over the Black Sea. A moderate, temporarily strong wind will blow from the north-northeast. With it, cold air will invade and by 2 p.m. the temperatures will be 4°-5°. The temperature of the sea water is 9°-10°. The excitement of the sea will be 2-3 points.
Over the mountains it will be cloudy with snow showers. A moderate, temporarily strong wind will blow from the north-northwest, which will turn from the northeast by the end of the day. There will be conditions for winds and blizzards. Cold air will move in and temperatures will drop sharply during the day. Maximum temperature at a height of 1200 meters about 2°, at 2000 meters – about minus 1°.
On the night of Saturday, the rain will turn to snow everywhere, but in Northern Bulgaria, the rain will stop by the morning. In the southern half of the country, the rain will continue on Saturday during the day, but after lunch it will weaken and gradually stop. The conditions for blizzards and winds will remain along the mountain passes and in the eastern regions. The cold will continue and throughout the country the temperatures will remain almost without daily movement, close to zero.
By Sunday morning, the rain will stop everywhere. Clouds will break and decrease. The wind will weaken and move from the northwest. The minimum temperatures will be between minus 5° and 0°, and the maximum – between 1° and 6°.
