NATIONAL EDUCATION: “It is still to allocate resources for the start of the 2021 school year”, according to Unsa

The teachers’ union speaks of teaching situations to be improved, “which have been constrained by health measures”.

Press release from the Dijon Academy Se-Unsa:

Motion of the SE-Unsa National Council of June 2 and 3, 2021

Resources for the start of the school year, there is still time!

The representatives of the SE-Unsa in metropolitan France and overseas, meeting in National Council in Villejuif (94) on June 2 and 3, 2021, pooled their findings and analyzes of the impact of the health crisis in their territories. . They call on the government and parliamentarians to increase the resources for the start of the 2021 school year to meet the pedagogical and educational challenges of an extraordinary start to the school year.

Indeed, this re-entry will be after 18 months of health crisis, where alternated, at very different rates depending on the territories, periods of distance learning, periods of hybrid education, and “face-to-face” periods. For everyone, from kindergarten to high school, teaching situations have been constrained by health measures: limitation of interactions, non-mixing of groups, periods of suspension of the inclusion of students with disabilities, wearing of the mask to from 6 years old, closed access to certain infrastructures for PSE, abandonment of projects with exits, reduction of internship periods or professional training …

All these constraints have of course consequences on the education of our children and young people, on their achievements and on their school career. In addition, there are those shared by all of society, economic consequences and psychological consequences. The pedagogical and educational challenges to be taken up by severely tested personnel are considerable.

The SE-Unsa had already denounced the 2021 budget adopted last December. He still denounces the elimination of 1887 teaching posts, especially in the 2nd degree. It is not their compensation by overtime, nor the recourse to the direct responsibility of students in alternation in the 1st as in the 2nd degree which can solve the insufficiency of the means. In addition, the deficit of psychologist positions in National Education, CPE, AED, AESH and APSH, and the decrease in places in recruitment competitions contribute to deteriorate the quality of supervision and educational and pedagogical support.

To succeed in overcoming the consequences of the health crisis and guarantee a quality public education service, the SE-Unsa requests that the resources allocated to the School be significantly increased. It’s still time !
