Nathan van Kooperen regrets a tweet in which he called Ajax a ‘buying club’. The agent responded last summer to the arrival of Sivert Mannsverk, giving his client Silvano Vos yet another competitor in Amsterdam.

“I was disappointed,” Van Kooperen explained on Sunday Good morning Eredivisie. “It was out of emotion. In retrospect it is not useful, but we had an agreement with Sven Mislintat that no more midfielder would be brought in. That did happen, three days before the transfer market closed. That is where this frustration came from.”
Earlier in the summer, Ajax already signed Branco van den Boomen and Benjamin Tahirovic, which meant that Vos had less prospect of playing time. The eighteen-year-old talent, who has recently been struggling with an injury, played nine matches in the first team this season, four of which were in the starting line-up. By the way, Marciano Vink spoke to Vos about Van Kooperen’s angry tweet. “He was not happy with it. He did not think it was necessary either,” said the analyst.

Remarkably, Van Kooperen was involved in the arrival of Jordan Henderson to Ajax this winter. With the 33-year-old Englishman, he helped the Amsterdam team find another competitor for Vos, after which he was called ‘hypocritical’ on social media. Hans Kraay also finds it remarkable – given the previous criticism from the agent – that he played a role in the arrival of Henderson.
“I think the situation at Ajax is currently very different from last summer. I think everyone could see what Ajax missed in the first half of the season. Then it is not surprising that you go all out for Henderson if you see such a type. player can achieve,” Van Kooperen defends himself. “I knew what Ajax was looking for and knew that he was unhappy in Saudi Arabia. Kelvin (de Lang, ed.) also handled this very well. He has been pushing us every day.”
