Nathalie Gröbli was successfully operated on her left leg immediately after her fall during downhill training in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It was an open lower leg fracture and a complex left knee injury. The 23-year-old will be transferred to the Balgrist University Clinic on Sunday with the REGA for further care and clarification. It will also show whether and when further surgery may be necessary.
“The operation was successful. However, due to the complexity of the injuries, not all structures could be reconstructed at the same time. Therefore, a follow-up operation will probably be necessary in the further course, ”says Walter O. Frey, Senior Doctor Alpine at Swiss-Ski.
