«ASTRONOMY PICTURE OF THE DAY»
The US space agency has released a photo showing Comet Neowise over the German Alps. A nice publicity stunt for the region.

Every day, NASA selects an image, photo or video from space and shares it on a website entirely dedicated to this “Astronomy picture of the day”. On Wednesday, a photo taken in Switzerland was highlighted by the American space agency. We see the comet Neowise passing over the Pizol, a mountain which rises between Bad Ragaz (SG) and Wangs (SG) at an altitude of 2844 meters. The image was taken from several shots taken 30 minutes apart by the webcam of the Laufböden station in Bad Ragaz.

Klaus Nussbaumer, owner of the Pizolbahnen AG ski lift, is delighted: “We are delighted with this photo. It’s nice that NASA is sharing it with the world. ” He hopes that this unexpected publicity stunt will increase the number of visitors to the webcam site.

The image in question was produced by photographer Philipp Salzgeber, passionate about astronomy. Questioned by “FM1Today”, he explains that NASA became interested in his photo after having posted it on a Facebook group.
