On Friday, Cassidy, together with astronaut Robert Benken, made an exit to replace the batteries in the power supply system of the American segment of the ISS with new ones brought by the Japanese cargo ship HTV-9 in May.
–
As the site spaceflightnow.com notes, Cassidy, leaving the lock chamber to start work on the outer surface of the station, reported that a small mirror somehow flew off the sleeve of his spacesuit and sailed into space at a speed of about a kilometer per hour.
–
At the same time, the site claims that a lost object weighing about 50 grams does not threaten the safe flight of the ISS and its crew, and that Cassidy had a spare mirror.
–
The sleeve mirror is used by astronauts and astronauts to read inscriptions and inspect places that are not visible when working due to the limited view in the spacesuit.
–
Now, in addition to Cassidy and Benken, the Russian cosmonauts Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Wagner, as well as the American astronaut Douglas Hurley, work on the ISS.
