Napoli Stumbled on the Plusvalenza Case, Will it be like Juventus?

Naples

Napoli is currently investigating a similar case Juventus namely inflating the value of player transfers. Will Napoli have the same fate as the Bianconeri?

Juventus was sentenced to a deduction of 15 points by an Italian court. The Old Lady received this sanction after being proven guilty of inflating transfer values and capital gains. This case in Italy is known by the term capital gain.

The Bianconeri inflated the transfer fee when they exchanged Miralem Pjanic and Arthur Melo with Barcelona in 2020. Juventus value Pjanic 60 million euros, while Barcelona set a price of 72 million euros for Arthur.

Pjanic’s price was inflated by Juventus. At that time, Pjanic’s transfer value was not as high as Juventus revealed. This is done to circumvent Financial Fair Play rules.

The sanctions received by Juventus could make Napoli worry. The reason is, Il Partenopei is now also in the middle of investigating a similar case related to transfers Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen came to Napoli from Lille with a transfer fee of 72 million euros in 2020. The transfer value of 72 million euros was not fully paid by Napoli in money.

20 million euros were paid by the team from Naples in the form of a player exchange. Orestis Karnezis, Claudio Manzi, Luigi Liguori and Ciro Palmieri left for Lille as part of the Osimhen transfer. The value of these four players allegedly played by Napoli.

Quoted from La Repubblica, the Napoli Prosecutor’s Office asked for an additional six months to investigate this case.

Napoli believe this case will end well for them. The lawyer for Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, Fabio Fulgeri, emphasized that there was no inflated value in Osimhen’s transfer.

He also believes that Napoli will not be given the same punishment as Juventus. This is because the two teams are not involved in the same case.

“The Osimhen case, in my opinion, cannot be compared to the Juventus case. Napoli did not do business with Juventus, so they were not involved. If no new elements emerge, everything will end well,” Fulgeri said as quoted by Football Italia.

“An extension has been requested to study the material obtained, it takes the necessary time to assess the documents obtained. I don’t even know what the object of verification is, the investigation is confidential, but my view is that the deal was done fairly without balance sheet falsification,” he explained.
