Less than 10 minutes ago

– I hope he comes. I will tear it down. This is my moment. I’ve been waiting for this. (…) I will tear it down. I have to go to jail for this, but I’m happy to do it.

The words came from a trembling and angry Pelosi, the woman who just two weeks later would become leader of the House of Representatives – one of the two Houses of Congress – minutes earlier. Trump supporters have stormed Congress On January 6 last year, at the same time that politicians in Congress gathered to officially declare Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 presidential election.

Donald Trump has reportedly expressed a desire to march with his supporters against Congress. This is what an unreleased video shows Pelosi being told by his own cabinet chief, Terri McCollough.

FORMER PRESIDENT: Donald Trump lost the 2020 election.

In the video, he tells Pelosi that intelligence said they had to persuade Trump, who was still president at the time but claimed he lost the election two months earlier due to a scam, not to march with his thousands of supporters because then they couldn’t guarantee his safety.

– So he’s not coming at the moment. But that could change, McCollough says.

It is then that Pelosi replies that he hopes he will come and threatens to shoot him down if he does.

Filmed by his daughter

The video was shot by Pelosi’s own daughter, documentary director Alexandra Pelosi. She has been close to her mother all day, which has been called an attack on American democracy, as Trump’s supporters aimed to stop Biden’s formal election winner.

He shared the tapes he made that day with the so-called January 6 committee, a congressional committee that tried, among other things, to get to the bottom of Donald Trump’s role when his supporters attacked the congress building.

Several minutes of the tapes were shown when the committee held an audition on Thursday. Incidentally, they show Pelosi on the phone with then Vice President Mike Pence, who, like Pelosi, had to evacuate. They also show conversations between her and other prominent politicians in a desperate attempt to get someone to send military forces from the National Guard to control the situation.

And last but not least, they show how worried Pelosi is that the process of approving the electoral results must take place despite the crowd that stormed them, and among other things entered her office.

– If not, it will be a complete win for them, says Pelosi.

It should be left alone

It was still only a small fraction of the clips Alexandra Pelosi turned in to the commission that they actually showed during the audition. CNN they had access to nearly an extra hour of material. It is among this material that the clip in which Pelois threatens Trump with a beating is found.

– It is very understandable that Nancy Pelosi reacts with anger after Trump cheered on the crowd and encouraged them to “fight like hell”. Unsurprisingly, the leader of the House of Commons reacts when the president almost encourages the crowd to attack Congress, says US expert and adviser to the Civita think tank, Eirik Løkke.

He still thinks that Pelosi should refrain from reacting in this way:

– Pelosi’s calls for violence are just as irresponsible – and she should be too good for that. Even in a meeting with Trump.

Neither Nancy Pelosi herself nor Donald Trump have so far commented on the clip.

January 6 Committee the conference on Friday the former president as a witness to his investigation. They want to hear directly from him. It is still unlikely that he will allow himself to be interviewed by them.

The committee’s vice president, Republican Liz Cheney, said Thursday that it is a man who is the main cause of the attack in Congress, or Donald Trump himself.
