N26 receives banking license for Brazil

N26 surprisingly got the okay to enter the Brazilian market, as the fintech magazine Finance Forward writes. Two years ago, the Berlin smartphone bank announced that it wanted to expand into the South American country. N26 applied for a special license from the central bank, but has recently given up hope. The start was originally planned for the end of 2020, but could not be carried out due to the lack of a license. In December, co-founder and CEO Valentin Stalf said that the startup wanted to concentrate more on its core markets and that the Brazilian market should not be tackled for the time being. Whether the app account should come to Latin Americans after the approval of the central bank will be decided in the next few weeks. (Those: Finance Forward)
