The murders of Leslie and Kevin constitute one of the most complicated cases to resolve in recent years. It joins the great French criminal mysteries, like the disappearance of Émile last July. The only difference, however, is that the investigators are starting to have an idea of what could have been going on.
It all started when Kevin Trumpet et Leslie Hoorelbeke, a couple in their twenties, disappeared in the Deux-Sèvres department. Their disappearance immediately alerted their loved ones, given the strange and suspicious atmosphere that hovered around this event. For her part, Leslie Hoorelbeke was a house painter. But on the other hand, Kevin Trompat would have been involved in drug cases in his lifetime.
Investigators release one of the suspects in the Leslie and Kevin case
Since this double disappearance, investigators have had difficulty finding serious leads. They turned their attention to crime when Leslie and Kevin’s clothes were found in a recycling container. After intense searches and several hearings, the bodies of the two victims were found. While one was found in a field in Puyravault, the other was dug up in an undergrowth in Virson.
This discovery leaves no shadow of a doubt. Kevin and Leslie were murdered. Since then, investigators have taken several suspects into custody, including Tom Trouillet, the central character of this plot. Three other individuals were also indicted. A fifth, a certain Stevan Mathieuended up being released last January.
A unclear role in the Kevin and Leslie murders
Stevan Mathieu, who is also nicknamed the K, was released under judicial supervision on Thursday January 4. However, investigators had indicted him since April 2023. They accused him ofkidnapping et sequestration. However, they discovered that he could not have been on the scene when the crime was committed.
According to the gendarmes who took charge of this case, this suspect in the Kevin and Leslie affair arrived by TGV to La Rochelle from Paris, the evening of the events. Although he did indeed go to Deux-Sèvres subsequently, he was only able to arrive around midnight. At this time, it is estimated that Kevin and Leslie have already been killed. However, this alibi did not completely rule out this suspect in the case.
This suspect in the Kevin and Leslie case is still under investigation
Stevan Mathieu is not really released. This suspect in the Leslie and Kevin murders is simply no longer accused of kidnapping and forcible confinement. However, he would still have played a role in this dark story. After his arrival, he intervened on several occasions to bury the bodies and to clean up the crime scene.
He even allegedly concluded an agreement with the other suspects under which he would have been entitled to 16 000 euros. However, this sum of money was never returned to him. He remains under investigation for concealment of corpses and alteration of a crime scene. If these facts are proven, he should therefore not escape a few years in prison.
