Experts have identified the mysterious fever as two separate diseases, one caused by bacteria and others because virus.
The case has been identified as infection with scrub typhus and dengue fever.
The disease has killed more than 100 people and infected thousands in Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India in just a few weeks.
At least 40 of the victims were children.

Officials in Uttar Pradesh report about 100 new cases of both fevers every day.
Scrub typhus is fever bacteria that spreads through bites chiggers, or larval mites in bushes.
Symptoms include fever, headache and body aches, which then progress to a rash and inflammation of the nervous system that can lead to confusion and even coma.
Dengue fever is an infection virus which is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito.
