Music will star in the afternoon of leisure this Saturday at the Casa de la Juventud

The House of Youth will be divided into three different sets this Saturday to host the scheduled workshops in a new afternoon of leisure dedicated to the music production, the DJ world and the radio. You want to commemorate the European Music Day, that has been celebrated this week, by the hand of Ática FM and Xarma Music, who will coordinate the planned activities from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm. The workshops are free, although they require prior registration at the Casa de la Juventud itself or by calling 948 23 35 12.

On the set dedicated to music production, you can unleash your imagination to create your own theme. A first workshop will be held at 5.30 pm to learn sound design and delve into the most common processes and techniques when creating sounds. The origins of synthesis, subtractive, additive and FM techniques will be covered and the fundamental parts of a synthesizer will be explained, that is, oscillator, filter, envelopes and ADSR.

A second workshop, at 7.15 pm, will develop a mix of an instrumental Hip-Hop theme. During the session the most important parts to be highlighted in the track will be shelled and the attendees will be provided with some basic notions in terms of equalization, dynamics, saturation and loudness. These two workshops will be taught by Ibai Machín, a graduate in musical production and advanced sound from the University of Girona. Currently, he works as an Ableton Live instructor at Eumes, in addition to collaborating on many other professional projects.

MIXTURES WITH VINYL AND CD PLAYERS

Another set will be dedicated to the world of DJing, in which the roots of this world will be known, through vinyl and CD players. At 5.30 pm, those registered will start in the world of vinyl, a format that has revolutionized the world of music. They will reconnect with the roots of DJing, through touch and analog sound, to learn the true art of mixing. The basic connections of the sound system, musical structures (measure, beat, BPM…) and mixing techniques will be analyzed.

Then, at 7.15 pm, it will go on to mixing with CD players. The new tools and facilities offered by technological evolution will be studied and basic elements such as frequencies, filters, gains, equalizations and effects will be addressed to face a session in a professional way. The DJ set will be directed by Adrián Alegría, a professional musician, educator and senior sound technician with more than 10 years of experience in the sector, a former resident of venues such as Txitxarro, Itzela-Dcibelia or Totem.

LIVE RADIO

The last set will be destined for the world of radio. First thing in the morning, at 5.30 pm, there will be a workshop in which to see and learn how to assemble a radio set with which to broadcast live by radio frequency and over the internet. It will also include the assembly of cameras and the explanation to be able to broadcast live images through social networks. The workshop will explain step by step the assembly of a radio set, the podcast recording and the broadcasting in streaming and broadcasting. It will be taught by Unai Manero and Jorge Garcia, radio technicians who have completed their training in the ATICA association.

Starting at 6:45 p.m., the assembled set will be used to carry out a radio program that will be recorded and, later, published in podcast format. They will perform the radio program Miriam Baos, Cristina Mayor and Alex Muguiro, with a special edition of their ‘Arriba o Abajo’, which is broadcast live every other Monday on ÁTICA FM.
