Music takes over the city on the first festive and cultural weekend of August

Music for all tastes and in different formats. The concerts will be the protagonists of the first festive and cultural weekend of August, in the program prepared by the Department of Culture and Promotion of the City of Avilés, from this Friday, the 6th, until Sunday the 8th.

The Festival of Black Music ‘La Grapa’; reaches its sixth edition, after last year’s impasse, in which it could not be celebrated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It changes its location, to the main stage of the summer in Avilés, at La Exposición, and offers four
concerts in style, with the best of the European and American music scene.

On Friday 6th, at 10 pm, the Nola Brass Band opens the fire, a consolidated big band from Madrid that will make the public move to the rhythm of the festive sounds of New Orleans, with the sensitivity of jazz and the sound of funk.

Without changing the scene, at 11:30 p.m., one of the great blues ladies, Shanna Waterstown. Born in the southern United States and living in Paris, she mixes the best of both shores, with her velvety voice.

Already on the night of Saturday 7, jazz funk and old and black-rooted dance rhythms from 10 pm with The Cherry Boppers. And once the festive wick is lit, the culmination with one of the best bluesman of the moment. Big Daddy Wilson, from the depth of his silky voice, will lead the audience through the best of blues, funk and soul, with touches of reggae. It will be at 11:30 p.m.

On Sunday 8, one of the successful stages launched last year, the Plaza de Camposagrado, opens. There, one of the most surprising bands on the national scene will be uploaded, Vocal Tempo, which, using only its voice recreating different instruments and sounds, will leave the audience ‘With their mouths open’, at 9:00 p.m.

A little later, at 10:30 p.m. at La Exposición, the songs of the king of Spanish glam, Tino Casal, and intergenerational hymns will resound in the tribute concert that Billy Boy and Los Ácratas will perform.
