Mushroom Story Days will take place in Mores Parish, Sigulda Region

During the Mores Parish Festival, August 15, at 10.00 and at 16.00, as well as on August 16 at 10.00 and at 16.00, in the “Mountain Walls” of Mores Parish, Sigulda Region, Mushroom Story Days will take place, to which mushroom pickers with skills to tell and listen, as well as storytellers and listeners with an interest in mushroom picking, are invited.

As informed by the county municipality, on the Mushroom Story Days, visitors will have the opportunity to meet with the co-author of the “Great Latvian Mushroom Book” and mycologist of the Latvian Museum of Nature Inita Danieli. She will discover various natural secrets related to mushrooms and lead an expedition in the forest. In turn, a fabulous, fabulous and anecdotal mood with ancient and modern stories about mushrooming will be created by the researcher of the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia Dr. philol. Guntis Pakalns.

Thanks to the native tradition of mushroom picking, legends and stories about the toponyms of “Kalna Vaizuļi” and many places in the area have also been preserved. You will be able to get to know them in nature together with Margit Porieta, the head of the Folklore Commission of the Riga Latvian Society. These stories also once stimulated the projects “Meeting in Mores Stories 2013” ​​and “Meeting in Mores Stories 2016”. Ethnographer Indra Čekstere will talk about the topic of forest and mushrooming in these projects.

Māra Zemdega, the owner of Allaži parish “Mauriņi”, will invite you to enjoy the stories of mushroom culinary heritage. In turn, folk musicians Aiga Auziņš will be able to participate in mushroom songs, games and games.

How to make mushroom dolls for children from natural materials will be taught by the class teacher of the Riga Latvian Association “Sprīdītis School” Dr. agr. Baiba Ošmane, Daiga Kļaviņa, Laura Kļaviņa, Margarita Done, Sniedze Ozola, Anita Feldmane.

Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy an exploratory and eventful day in the atmosphere of a country house family. Storytelling in connection with mushrooming will be shown as an interesting form of modern communication. Visitors are also invited to prepare a story of about three minutes about mushrooms or mushrooms, a mushroom knife, a basket and mushroom clothes.
