Municipal results in Dijon: Rebsamen claims victory

The former Minister of Labor of François Hollande François Rebsamen claims victory in the second round of the municipal election in Dijon. According to him, its alliance with the Modem wins 66% of the votes. He claims that the candidate of the right, Emmanuel Bichot won 34% of the vote and that the ecologist obtained 22%.

During the first round, on March 15, François Rebsamen (Left Union) won 38.25% of the vote, ahead of the candidate Les Républicains Emmanuel Bichot with 19.91% of the votes. The environmental candidate came in third position with 15.10% of the vote was maintained.

During the previous election, in 2014, François Rebsamen was elected with 52.84% of the vote in front of his opponent from the right union Alain Houpert who had achieved a score of 34.03% of the vote. The candidate National Front Edouard Cavin had obtained 13.13% of the votes.

In the second round of the 2017 legislative elections, LaREM had a comfortable score of 55% in the first and second constituencies and even 72% in the third constituency (against a National Front candidate).

Dijon is the prefecture of the Côte-d’Or and one of the chief town of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. The city has 156,000 inhabitants. François Rebsamen has been mayor of the city since 2001. Before him, Robert Poujade held this position for 30 years.
